I Am A MomI am a Mom. But before I was a mom, I was many other things. I was a daughter, a sister, a friend and a wife. Each of these relationships has helped to make me the person I am today. The value that I place on each person I have been related to in my life has guided me in my journey as a mother. I want many things for my children, but mostly I want them to be as content and fulfilled in their relationships as I have been in mine. I might not have understood this as clearly as I do today if my son was not born with autism and that has been both a gift and a vital part of my own journey.
Besides being a mom, I hold a graduate degree in a field of social sciences. I have worked extensively with individuals and families at the community level in the US and throughout Asia. To my work with families navigating autism I bring a sound background in qualitative analysis, excellent cross-cultural and interpersonal communication skills, experience implementing training programs and a genuine desire to help families and individuals lead full and enriching lives.
All program certified RDI consultants must complete an extensive training program that involves:
- supervised work with two families,
- study of published research related to child development
- participation in weekly continuing education seminars, and
- three weeks of on-site training at the Connections Center in Houston where RDI was developed by Dr. Steve Gutstein and his experienced staff.
